Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has held a meeting with the Sunda Group, reaffirming the government’s commitment to creating a stable and enabling environment that boosts investor confidence and supports business growth in Ghana.
The meeting was led by the Ghana Director of the Sunda Group, Mr. Michael Ye, who expressed the company’s appreciation for the Vice President’s presence at the opening of its new production line.
Mr. Ye also conveyed the company’s confidence in Ghana’s improving economic outlook and its readiness to expand operations in the country.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasised that collaboration between the government and the private sector remains central to national development, noting that partnerships such as the one with Sunda Group are essential for driving sustainable economic growth.
She highlighted the adoption of the government’s 24-Hour Economy initiative by the company’s new production line, describing it as a clear example of how policy can translate into increased productivity, expanded industrial operations, and job creation.
The Vice President also reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting girls’ education and gender equity, stressing that a girl’s natural biological functions should never be a barrier to her education or full potential.
In this regard, she noted that the Free Sanitary Pad Initiative remains a key government priority, with an allocation of GHS 292.4 million in the 2026 Budget.
She commended the Sunda Group for its sanitary pad donations, describing them as a meaningful contribution to the national effort to support girls’ education and dignity.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang further encouraged the company to deepen its local value chain by exploring the use of locally sourced raw materials in its production processes, to ensure that more Ghanaians benefit from industrial expansion.
In addition, she called on Sunda Ghana to intensify public education on the proper disposal of sanitary pads and diapers, underscoring the importance of good hygiene, environmental protection, and effective waste management.
She concluded that partnerships of this nature demonstrate how government and industry can work together to drive inclusive growth, protect dignity, and build a healthier and more productive Ghana.
