An Accra Circuit Court has granted Kweku Osei Korankye Asiedu, also known as Koka, a marketer, bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with two sureties, who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

Asiedu is accused of threatening staff of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) with death.

The court also ordered him to deposit his passport and a photocopy of his Ghana Card at the court registry and report to the case investigator on the last Friday of every month.

The case has been adjourned to November 3, 2026.

Earlier, Asiedu, described as one of the communicators of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), pleaded not guilty to charges of threat of death, offensive conduct, and publication of false information.

The court also rescinded a bench warrant previously issued for his arrest.

Presenting the facts, Chief Inspector Wisdom Alorwu, who led the prosecution, said the complainants were staff members of EOCO.

The prosecution said on July 14, 2026, Asiedu was invited for questioning following the circulation of a video on various social media platforms in which he allegedly threatened the lives of EOCO personnel.

The prosecution said in a video recorded on May 29, 2026, the accused was heard threatening EOCO staff, saying: “We know the officers’ houses, we know where they stay and will kill you.”

It further alleged that on July 13, 2026, Asiedu appeared in another video in which he allegedly misled the public by claiming that there was “an order from above, the Presidency, that no one should bring food to Dennis Miracles Aboagye,” who was then in EOCO custody assisting with investigations.

The prosecution said the accused intended to provoke a breach of the peace by disseminating the alleged false information to the public. It said the publication undermined the lawful execution of EOCO officials’ duties.

As a result of the alleged actions, the driver of EOCO’s Executive Director was reportedly chased by about 20 unidentified men on motorbikes who intended to harm him.

The incidents instilled fear among EOCO personnel as they carried out their lawful duties, the prosecution said.

Asiedu was subsequently arrested and, when cautioned, allegedly admitted to the offences.
