President John Dramani Mahama has summoned the Managing Director of TDC Company Limited, Courage Nunekpeku, the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Ebi Bright, the Minister for Local Government and the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources to a meeting over a disputed development project at Community One Site Three in Tema.
The meeting, scheduled for Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., is expected to bring the parties together to address the disagreement and clarify the respective positions of TDC Company Limited and the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA).
The President’s directive, issued on Friday, August 14, follows a standoff between TDC and the TMA over an ongoing development and infilling project at the site.
The TMA has ordered TDC to suspend work, arguing that the project is being undertaken without the necessary development permit.
The Assembly has also raised concerns over complaints from residents, including the alleged cutting down of about 50 trees, demolition of structures, encroachment on playgrounds and green belts, as well as the obstruction of access routes.
The dispute has sparked growing concerns among residents and other stakeholders about the development and management of public spaces within the community.
The meeting convened by President Mahama is expected to allow the relevant authorities to examine the concerns raised, establish the facts surrounding the project and determine an appropriate way forward.
