All one encounters on many Ga & Daŋme platforms today are endless compliments lavished on politicians and chiefs. I am not opposed to honorifics, but we must ask ourselves: is this how we demonstrate common sense and collective purpose? Are our platforms merely for praise-singing, or for educating ourselves on practical tools that can secure the Ga and Daŋme languages a meaningful place in artificial intelligence?
As it stands, much of what circulates online is linguistic noise near gibberish harvested by AI systems largely through uncurated Google content. This is not how languages are preserved, modernized, or made relevant in the digital age. From now on, let us channel our aggression toward modernization and neo-civilization. That can only happen when we prioritise facts and substance over endless speculation about what could or should be. The blame game has grown excessive, shrinking us into a shallow space that produces no results only consequences.
It is not enough to live in the real world wearing comfortable shoes while refusing to follow the currents that shape it. My fellow Ga mei, we are in the world, yet we often behave as though we are detached from it. The noise, verbal warfare, and vulgarianism that dominate our social media spaces are not suitable inputs for AI systems to learn from. This is not how digital futures are built.
It is time to become flexible—adopting minds that adjust to change, and discarding old ways of thinking and behaviour that no longer serve us. Let us use social media intentionally: to promote Ga and Daŋme educational content, human and cultural development, and the systematic collection of knowledge. These materials can then be treated as coherent, singular concepts suitable for media platforms and AI training systems.
I am, however, encouraged by the news that King Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has been invited to chair the upcoming AI conference by the Minister of Education. This exposure to reality is necessary, timely, and long overdue.
