Street sweepers are set to receive a significant increase in their salaries, the Mayor of Accra, Michael Nii Kpakpo Allotey, has announced. According to him, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has confirmed that the monthly allowance for street sweepers will be raised from GH¢400 to GH¢800. Speaking on Citi News, the Accra Mayor explained that the move is intended to ensure sweepers take home a fair wage, which will also motivate them to work more effectively.
