Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah (Rtd) has criticised Ghana’s focus on issues he believes are less important than citizens’ daily struggles.
He questioned debates about renaming the Kotoka International Airport.
“What does the name do? What does it feed me?” he asked during an interview on TV3 monitored by MyNewsGh.
He added, “We are a hungry nation. Young people are finishing school and have no jobs, yet we are arguing about buildings.”
The retired officer said government attention should be on employment and welfare.
“We have to feed our people. These are more important things,” he stated.
He also shared how he supports people in his hometown.
“Every week, I share my pension among my people in Winneba,” he said.
On politics, he described the current system as worrying.
“It is ugly to me. I didn’t join politics for power. I joined because I love Ghana,” he explained.
He urged leaders to focus on improving living conditions rather than engaging in unnecessary political debates.
