The Embassy of the Republic of Ghana in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has issued a strong advisory to Ghanaian pilgrims preparing for the 2026 Hajj, urging strict compliance with Saudi laws and regulations throughout the pilgrimage period scheduled from May 1 to May 20, 2026.

In an official statement released on April 21, 2026 and signed by Ghana’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Said Sinare,    emphasised that Hajj is a sacred religious obligation, but warned that participants must also uphold the laws of the host country and conduct themselves responsibly as representatives of Ghana.

The Embassy cautioned that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia enforces stringent laws on drug-related offences and financial crimes, including money laundering, noting that any individual found engaging in such activities will face immediate arrest, prosecution, and severe penalties.

It further warned that it would not tolerate any conduct that could damage the reputation of Ghana, stressing that offenders would bear full personal responsibility for their actions.

Pilgrims were advised to exercise vigilance and avoid carrying luggage, money, or items on behalf of others without proper verification, as such actions could expose them to serious legal consequences.

The statement also strongly discouraged the use of unauthorised travel arrangements for Hajj, including visiting visas or illegal entry routes, warning that such violations could result in arrest, detention, deportation, prosecution, and possible long-term bans from re-entry into Saudi Arabia.

Ghanaian pilgrims were therefore directed to travel strictly through approved Hajj arrangements, ensure valid documentation specifically issued for the pilgrimage, and adhere to all official procedures.

The Embassy further urged pilgrims to demonstrate discipline, patriotism, and dignity, describing their conduct as critical to safeguarding Ghana’s national image abroad.
