Two major waste dumpsites have been submerged following the recent spillage incident, raising fresh environmental and public health concerns in affected communities.
Authorities say water levels have gradually subsided in some areas, allowing a number of displaced residents to begin returning to their homes.
According to the latest situation update, approximately four percent of residents who earlier evacuated have now returned after floodwaters receded.
Officials are, however, continuing to monitor conditions in the affected communities while assessment and recovery efforts remain ongoing.
Meanwhile, one person reportedly sustained an electric shock during the incident and is currently receiving treatment at Tetegu.
Authorities confirmed that the victim is in stable condition.
Emergency response teams and local officials are continuing to assess the impact of the flooding and spillage while urging residents to remain cautious, especially around submerged areas and exposed electrical installations.
