The Auditor-General has uncovered the payment of more than GH¢7.4 million to four pensioners after their deaths, exposing further weaknesses in Ghana’s pension and payroll management systems. President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Ministry of Education to review a petition submitted by the African Chamber of Content Producers (ACCP), which is advocating the introduction of mandatory constitutional literacy in Ghana’s basic education curriculum. A joint study by the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) and the Centre for Indigenous Knowledge and Organisational Development (CIKOD) has found that all cabbage samples tested from the Agbogbloshie and Madina markets failed to meet established food safety standards due to excessive pesticide residues.
