GRA assures businesses of uninterrupted services despite heavy rains

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has assured businesses and taxpayers that it is taking steps to maintain its services despite the heavy rains affecting parts of Accra and other areas of the country.

The assurance comes as persistent rainfall has caused flooding in parts of the capital, disrupting transportation, business operations and the movement of goods, with forecasts indicating that more rain is expected in the coming days.

The Authority in a statement dated June 29, encouraged businesses to take precautionary measures, prioritise the safety of their workers and make greater use of its digital platforms to minimise the impact of the adverse weather.

“The GRA assures the business community that efforts are being made to ensure services remain available throughout this period. Teams across the country’s ports, border posts, and Taxpayer Service Centers (TSCs) have put measures in place to maintain essential Customs and Domestic Tax services,” the statement read in part.

According to the GRA, its priority is to keep legitimate trade moving, reduce avoidable disruptions and continue providing efficient services to taxpayers despite the challenging weather conditions.

It advised businesses to plan ahead, anticipate possible transportation delays and use available digital services where appropriate.

“No business activity is more important than protecting lives,” the statement stressed.

The Authority reiterated its commitment to supporting businesses by ensuring service continuity while safeguarding the revenue needed for national development.

It also wished taxpayers a safe week and urged the public to follow the guidance of the relevant emergency and weather authorities as the rains continue.
