The Minister for the Interior, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, has disclosed that over 105,000 applicants have progressed to the medical screening phase of the ongoing recruitment into the security services, even though only 5,000 slots are available for final enlistment.
According to him, prospective applicants were informed of the 65 percent benchmark ahead of the aptitude tests, as part of a transparent strategy to manage expectations and streamline the selection process.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, March 11, the Minister said the authorities fixed the examination cut-off score at 65 percent as a deliberate measure to regulate the large number of candidates moving to the next stage of the process. He explained that the threshold was introduced to ensure the exercise remained orderly and equitable, given the limited capacity of the security agencies.
Mr. Muntaka further indicated that while a significant number of candidates may clear the medical assessment, the stark disparity between those who qualify and the available vacancies means that only a small proportion will eventually secure appointment into the various security agencies this year.
