    Police arrest 93 suspected drug traffickers in Major Ashanti Region crackdown

    The Ghana Police Service has arrested 93 suspects, including individuals believed to be major players in the illicit narcotics trade, during a series of intelligence-led operations carried out across the Ashanti Region. The operations, undertaken by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Special Operations Team (SOT) between July 15 and July 24, 2026, targeted Kumasi, nearby communities and the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality.     There are 91,000 slaves in Ghana – Global Freedom Network

    A civil society organisation, Global Freedom Network (GFN), has disclosed that 91,000 victims of modern slavery have been identified in Ghana since 2021, while the global figure stands at 50 million.
