The Industrial and Commercial Workers’ Union (ICU) has appealed to President John Mahama to stop what it described as the proposed sale of a majority stake in the Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO). A civil society organisation, Global Freedom Network (GFN), has disclosed that 91,000 victims of modern slavery have been identified in Ghana since 2021, while the global figure stands at 50 million.
