The Mayor of Kumasi, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, has proposed that the government officially designate the first Friday of every month as National Sanitation Day to improve public and institutional participation in clean-up exercises. The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has installed new security screening equipment at Terminals 2 and 3 of Kotoka International Airport, allowing passengers to keep their laptops, shoes and belts on during security screening. In a public notice issued on July 11, 2026, GACL announced that travellers will no longer be required to remove laptops or other large electronic devices from their hand luggage during the screening process. Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has called for the modernisation of Ghana’s prison system following the passage of the Community Service Bill. Parliament recently passed the Community Service Bill, which is intended to introduce non-custodial sentencing by allowing eligible offenders convicted of minor offences to undertake supervised community service instead of serving prison terms.
