The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested three persons in connection with the attempted importation of approximately five million tablets of tramadol with an estimated street value of about GH¢100 million. The suspects were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation at Kotoka International Airport in Accra after officials intercepted a shipment believed to contain the illicit pharmaceutical drugs. The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), in partnership with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), will on Monday, 20 July 2026, launch a major three-month project to upgrade the Kumasi-Anwomaso transmission line. The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has announced that the Weija Children’s Hospital will soon be opened to the public following an agreement between the Ministry of Health and Awerco Construction Limited for the immediate handover of the facility. The Minority in Parliament has called for the removal of Clause 4 of the Tribunals Bill, 2026, arguing that the proposed provision could create confusion within Ghana’s justice system. Cabinet has ordered the immediate repeal of Executive Instrument 144, clearing the way to fully restore Achimota Forest to its original status as a Forest Reserve. At least 15 people are feared to have lost their lives in a devastating road crash involving three vehicles at Odumase, near Konongo, on the Kumasi-Accra Highway in the Ashanti Region. The collision involved a passenger bus, a truck loaded with tomatoes and an empty fuel tanker.
