The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has disclosed that 4,896 driver’s licence applicants were denied licences in 2025 after failing mandatory eye examinations, highlighting concerns about the impact of poor vision on road safety in Ghana. According to data released by the authority, a total of 251,117 commercial and private drivers underwent compulsory eye screening nationwide during the year. Mr Samuel Tetteh Kwashie Morton, the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has condemned the invasion of the Kpone Community Preparatory School by stray cattle after a viral video showed dozens of animals occupying the school’s compound during school hours. President John Dramani Mahama continues to enjoy majority support among Ghanaians, although his approval rating has dropped by more than nine percentage points over a five-month period, according to a nationwide survey by the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) released on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
