The Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, has praised the “Back to Your Village” Food Festival for creating employment opportunities and empowering young people.
Speaking on Day Two of the festival at Efua Sutherland Park on Sunday, March 29, 2026, the La Dade Kotopon MP commended organisers for the initiative, describing it as impactful and timely.
“I want to say ‘ayekoo’ to Channel One TV/Citi FM. This is a great initiative, and it is creating a lot of employment for our people out there,” she said.
She encouraged young people to take advantage of opportunities within the food and creative sectors, noting that skills such as cooking can be turned into viable businesses with the right support.
“I will say that the youth out there, if you do not have anything to do and you can cook like this, you can put yourself together. Institutions and ministries are willing to support such initiatives so that we don’t end up saying there are no jobs in Ghana,” she added.
The Deputy Minister also praised the quality of food at the festival, singling out vendors for their creativity and enthusiasm.
“The food we have tasted so far tastes so good. One vendor who prepared oil rice with goat meat did it so well. They are all excited about what they are doing, and that adds another dimension,” she noted.
She concluded by applauding both vendors and organisers for contributing to the success of the event.
