Critics question consistency of Sulemana Braimah’s claims on NLA-KGL partnership

Razak Kojo Opoku, a former Public Relations Manager of National Lottery Authoity(NLA), has raised questions over the consistency of allegations made by media executive and anti-corruption advocate Sulemana Braimah regarding the partnership between the National Lottery Authority (NLA) and KGL Technology Limited.

He argue that varying financial figures cited by Mr. Braimah over the past year have created uncertainty about the accuracy and credibility of his claims concerning the impact of the NLA-KGL arrangement on state revenues.

According to him, Mr. Braimah stated on August 5, 2025, that Ghana was “losing millions every week” as a result of the deal. On September 19, 2025, he reportedly claimed that a business worth GHS3 billion had been handed to KGL in exchange for GHS170 million.

More recently, in a social media post dated June 3, 2026, he is said to have argued that Ghana is losing close to GHS1 billion annually under the arrangement.

Mr Opoku  contends that the differing figures raise concerns about the basis and consistency of the allegations being made against the partnership.

He further argue that findings from a committee established by the President to review matters relating to the NLA-KGL arrangement did not conclude that Ghana was losing millions weekly, losing a GHS3 billion business, or losing GHS1 billion annually as a result of the deal.

Additionally, he maintain that the committee did not recommend the termination or abrogation of the NLA-KGL partnership, contrary to calls made by some critics of the arrangement.

Supporters of the partnership have also suggested that Mr. Braimah’s longstanding criticism of KGL may be influencing his assessment of the matter, resulting in conclusions they believe are not fully supported by available evidence.
