The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) has intensified efforts to strengthen engagement with industrial operators, as its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mary Awusi, led a high-level delegation on a working visit to two Free Zone enterprises (FZEs) at the Tema Industrial Area of the Greater Accra Region.

The visit, which took place on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, forms part of the Authority’s broader strategy to assess operational challenges faced by companies and reinforce its commitment to industrial growth and investor support.

The delegation first visited Aburi Energy, a renewable energy firm involved in the production of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules and other clean energy solutions.

Since commencing operations in July 2025, the company has employed about 240 local workers and operates from a 30,000-square-metre facility.

It has also exported over 300 containers valued at approximately $12 million, with projections to scale up production capacity to 4 gigawatts by the end of 2026.

Dr. Awusi commended the company for its rapid growth and contribution to Ghana’s export sector, while urging management to balance automation with job creation to maximise employment opportunities.

The team also visited TetraCore Gas Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of the TetraCore Energy Group, which supplies compressed natural gas to industries via truck distribution.

The company plays a key role in promoting cleaner and more efficient energy solutions within Ghana’s industrial landscape.

During the engagements, GFZA officials toured facilities, interacted with management, and gained insights into production processes and operational capacity.

Dr. Awusi praised both companies for supporting Ghana’s industrialisation agenda and reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for Free Zones enterprises to thrive.

She was accompanied by senior officials of the Authority, including Deputy CEO of Operations, Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu, and other directors and technical staff.
