More than 40 people were left nursing multiple stings after a massive swarm of bees descended on the Daavi Blessed Police Station in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
The sudden attack, described by witnesses as intense and chaotic, affected police officers, civilians and even animals in the vicinity. One victim is reportedly in critical condition.
Eyewitnesses said the bees had built a hive beneath a faulty truck parked opposite the police station. The swarm was inadvertently disturbed when the bonnet of the vehicle was opened for engine inspection, triggering an aggressive response.
Within moments, the bees spread rapidly through the area, invading the police station and stinging anyone in sight. Officers were forced to retreat indoors, seeking shelter under desks and other furniture to shield themselves from the attack.
Pedestrians and visitors at the station fled in panic, scrambling for safety. Livestock in the area were also affected, with several fowls reportedly killed after being stung.
The situation, though alarming, subsided after a short period, allowing activities at the station and within the community to gradually return to normal.
