A legal firm, Appiade Chambers, has issued a formal response on behalf of the Director of Great Lamptey- Mills Complex School, Mr. Enoch Odartey Lamptey-Mills, following a demand notice concerning the reported disappearance of a pupil identified as Adelaide Mei Afia Asare, believed to be eleven years of age.
The response, dated April 1, 2023, was addressed to Leslie Dickson of Dansoman and forms part of ongoing correspondence relating to the circumstances under which his child reportedly went missing shortly after admission into the school.
According to the lawyers, the school disputes aspects of the earlier demand notice, stating that certain claims did not reflect the true situation on the ground.
The firm explained that the school was not informed that the child was a special needs pupil, adding that such information, if disclosed, would have influenced the admission decision since the institution is not designated as a special school adding that the child was mentally challenged.
It further stated that the admission process had not been fully completed at the time of the incident, noting that the child had not yet undergone the standard administrative interview and had not been formally settled into the dormitory.
On the issue of school attire, the response indicated that while administrative fees had been paid, payment for a school uniform had not been made, meaning the pupil was not in school uniform at the time she went missing.
The letter also suggested that the absence of a uniform could aid ongoing search efforts, given the school’s public visibility.
The communication, signed by counsel from Appiade Chambers, included contact details of several lawyers handling the matter.
The circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the pupil remain unclear, and further developments are expected as investigations continue.
