The Ministry of Health has established an investigation committee to examine the circumstances surrounding the death of 29-year-old engineer Charles Amissah, following a reported hit-and-run accident.

Mr. Amissah is said to have died after the incident on February 6, 2026, amid allegations that he was denied emergency admission and treatment at several health facilities.

The hospitals mentioned in the allegations include the Police Hospital, Greater Accra Regional Hospital and the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

The Ministry said the committee has been tasked to investigate the incident and establish the facts surrounding the alleged denial of emergency care.

The move follows widespread public concern over emergency healthcare delivery in the country.

According to the Ministry, the committee will also make recommendations aimed at strengthening emergency care services across Ghana.

As part of its work, the committee has invited members of the public, healthcare workers, eyewitnesses and civil society organisations to submit written inputs, testimonies or any relevant information regarding experiences with emergency healthcare.

Submissions can be sent via email to dacosta_osei@yahoo.com or through telephone contact at +233 55 720 8487.

The Ministry indicated that all contributions must be submitted by March 11, 2026.

In a statement signed by Chief Director Desmond Boateng on behalf of the Minister for Health, the Ministry said public cooperation will be vital in helping the committee ensure that emergency healthcare services in Ghana become more responsive, accessible and effective.
