Accra, Ghana — Following recent tensions within Gbese, during which alleged attempts were made to destabilize the leadership of the Gbese Dzaasetse, Nii Okai Kasablofo V, and the Wekuyitso of the Nyan Abordiamo We–Kreshie We Clan, Nii Ashirifi Mettle-Nunoo, and which were subsequently contained through the intervention of security authorities to maintain law and order, the Wekuyitso (Head of Family) of the Nyan Abordiamo We–Kreshie We Clan, Nii Ashirifi Mettle-Nunoo, has issued a public appeal calling for unity, humility and reconciliation following the successful completion of a Sacred Traditional Rite of Purification, Reconciliation and Spiritual Renewal.

In his address, Nii Mettle-Nunoo stated that the ceremony marked a renewed commitment to restoring harmony within the family after years of internal divisions, strained relationships and diminished confidence in customary institutions.

He noted that the Clan’s forebears entrusted it with sacred responsibilities as custodians of traditions that have preserved the dignity of the Royal House and the Gbese Stool for generations. According to him, these responsibilities demand humility, discipline, truthfulness, respect for elders and unwavering fidelity to customary authority.

The family head explained that the purification rite was undertaken as a collective act of repentance, reconciliation and renewal through prayer, libation and customary observances, with the objective of seeking divine mercy and the blessings of revered ancestors.

While acknowledging attempts to disrupt the solemn occasion, he commended members who exercised restraint, noting that the ceremony was ultimately conducted peacefully and with dignity.

In a related development, the Gbese Dzaasetse, Nii Okai Kasablofo V, publicly expressed appreciation to the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies for what he described as their swift intervention in thwarting an alleged plot to destabilize his office and threaten the safety of heads of the royal family. He also appealed to the police to investigate and bring to justice individuals allegedly engaged in persistent defamatory campaigns intended to damage the reputations of respected elders of Gbese. The Dzaasetse further prayed for a peaceful and successful Homowo Festival, urging all factions within the state to embrace unity, peace and brotherly love in the interest of the Gbese Traditional Area.

Calling for a fresh beginning, Nii Mettle-Nunoo emphasized that no individual should place personal ambition above the interests of the Clan or the dignity of the Gbese Stool.

“No individual is greater than the Clan. No office is greater than our customs. No personal ambition is greater than the dignity of the Stool,” he stated.

He further described leadership within the Nyan Abordiamo We–Kreshie We Clan as a sacred trust that must be earned through service, humility, integrity and respect for customary order, rather than personal ambition.

The statement also urged members of the Clan to set aside grievances, reject intimidation and disorder, honour elders, safeguard the sanctity of the Gbese Stool, resolve disputes through dialogue and support leadership that advances the collective interest of the family.

Nii Mettle-Nunoo concluded by appealing for forgiveness and reconciliation among all branches of the Clan, expressing optimism that confidence in the family’s customary institutions would be restored.

He ended with prayers for divine wisdom, guidance from the revered ancestors, enduring peace within the Clan, unity among the Gbese Royal Families, and the continued dignity and service of the Gbese Stool for generations to come.
