The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially announced the dismissal of Otto Addo as head coach of the Black Stars.
The decision comes just hours after Ghana’s 2-1 defeat to Germany in their second international friendly in March.
Prior to that loss in Stuttgart, the Black Stars had endured a heavy 5-1 defeat against Austria in a friendly played on Friday, March 27.
The two defeats meant the Black Stars had now suffered four consecutive defeats since booking their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In an official statement released on Tuesday morning, the Ghana FA said, “The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has parted ways with the Head Coach of the senior men’s national team (Black Stars), Otto Addo, effective immediately.”
The statement continued, “The Association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours.”
The Ghana FA also indicated that details regarding the new technical direction of the Black Stars will be announced in due course.
With just a few months to the World Cup, the appointment of a new Black Stars head coach is expected sooner rather than later.
