The Resurrection Power New Generation Church located at Kalabule in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region has lost its canteen to a fire disaster.
Church members spotted a thick smoke emitting from the top floor of the one-storey building and attempted to attack the fire with hand-held extinguishers while placing a distress call to the fire service.
According to the Greater Regional NADMO Director in Charge of Operations, Daniel Domie, there were no casualties aside from the loss of property.
“When we got here, we realised that the church members had been able to put out the fire. They were handling the pieces so it does not ignite again.

“We suspect that there was a thunder strike that collided with the electric power and that ignited a thin fire in the wires, which was not seen. Though they lost some of their properties, nobody died,” he said.
Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service from the Dansoman station responded to douse the fire.
Commander in charge of the response team told Citi News the delay in response was caused by a lack of free access from Dansoman to the scene.
“Just imagine the traffic from Dansoman to this place. Even when you blow your siren, the drivers refuse to make way for you. That is why we got here late,” he said.
He has admonished property owners to take preventive measures to save life and property.
