Ghana’s Ambassador to South Korea, Kojo Choi, has held talks with the President of Friends of Hope International (KFHI), Charles Choi, to strengthen collaboration on healthcare and community development initiatives in Ghana.
The meeting focused on advancing a proposed Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition Improvement Project in Bongo, aimed at improving healthcare services for pregnant women and infants.
Under the plan, a dedicated health facility will be constructed near the Bongo District Hospital to provide essential maternal and child health services.
Construction is expected to begin in the second half of 2026, with completion projected for late 2027.
Ambassador Choi noted that the project represents a significant step in Ghana-Korea cooperation, describing it as a model for impactful international partnerships in healthcare delivery.
Friends of Hope International has been active in Ghana for over a decade, supporting various initiatives across sectors.
Its interventions include education and entrepreneurship programmes in Bolgatanga, water resource and climate resilience projects in Tamale, and vocational training for women in Bongo.
One notable initiative highlighted during the meeting involves local women in Bongo producing traditional fugu garments for export to South Korea, demonstrating the growing economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
Officials indicated that beyond the Bongo project, there are plans to replicate the model in other parts of Ghana, subject to the success of the initial implementation.
