The Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has declared lands within the Nmai Dzor–Trasacco–Borteyman enclave a security zone following a protracted dispute over land ownership involving families and traditional authorities.
REGSEC has warned that any individual who proceeds with development activities in the area will have their structures demolished and will be subjected to legal action.
Addressing journalists, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo said a joint security task force has been deployed to the enclave to maintain law and order and prevent further escalation of tensions.
“To maintain peace and maintain law and order, I wish to inform you that the enclave has been declared a security zone with immediate effect. All developmental activities in the area are to stop until further notice pending the final decision of the court. Joint police and military patrols have been declared to maintain order,” she said.
The Greater Accra Regional Minister has also directed the Ga East, Ayawaso West and La Nkwantanang–Madina Municipal Assemblies to urgently fix malfunctioning streetlights along the GIMPA and UPSA stretch to improve visibility and enhance security in the area.
