Lawyers for former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta have confirmed that their client has been released from ICE.
A statement confirming this said the former Finance Minister is currently with his family.
The statement further indicated that he will use every legal means to defend his right.
They used the opportunity to thank all Ghanaians who have supported the former government official with their prayers.
Mr Ofori-Atta had been in ICE custody since early January after his arrest in the United States over issues relating to his immigration status.
He was picked up by ICE officials in January, 2026, in the Virginia area, with his legal team later confirming the detention was linked to the legality of his stay in the country.
Following his arrest, he was held at an ICE detention facility in Virginia, where he remained for several weeks as legal processes, including immigration proceedings and an extradition request from Ghana, unfolded.
During his detention, he was denied bail by a U.S. court while contesting the case and seeking to resolve his immigration status
