The Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly (KoKMA), through the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit, has arraigned five (5) individuals before the James Town District Court for open defecation at the Osu Cemetery.
Court Outcomes:
Two persons pleaded guilty and were each fined GH¢1,200.
Two persons pleaded guilty with explanation; their pleas were changed to not guilty and they were granted GH¢3,000 bail each with two sureties, to reappear on 30th March 2026.
One person pleaded not guilty and was granted GH¢3,000 bail with two sureties, to also reappear on 30th March 2026.

The case was presided over by Her Worship Anna Akosua Appiah Gottfried Anaafi Gyafi.
KoKMA remains committed to enforcing sanitation by-laws and protecting the dignity and cleanliness of public spaces, especially sensitive areas such as cemeteries.
Residents are reminded to use designated sanitation facilities at all times. Offenders will be prosecuted.
