The Black Starlets drew 1-1 with Uganda at halftime after a very competitive first half in their important FIFA U-17 World Cup playoff match.
Ghana started the game strongly and took the lead in the ninth minute through Eric Adu Gyamfi, who finished a good attacking move calmly.
The Black Starlets continued to control possession after the goal and looked dangerous going forward as they searched for another goal.
Uganda slowly improved and got back into the match in the 33rd minute. The East African side scored from a corner kick after their captain delivered a dangerous cross that led to the equaliser.
In the second half, the Black Starlets took the lead again early in the game, but Uganda broke Ghana’s hearts in the 90th minute after scoring from a penalty.
The match went to a penalty shootout, which Uganda won 8-7.
This result means Ghana have missed out on qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
